               Lately many of the schools have been putting the discarded books into very large boxes that we cannot pick up.  As a general rule when boxing the books use this - "if you can pick up the box then we can."  Try and use the boxes that the new adoption came in.  If we arrive at the school for a pick up and the boxes are too big we will request that they be reboxed and the school will have to re-schedule to have them picked up at a later date.  If you know that you will need boxes please email or call us and we can arrange to drop off some boxes. 

Appointments- if you call or email I will call or contact you within 24 - 48 hours.  If you do not hear back from us in that time we might not have received the message.  Many schools are calling the district or warehouse for pickup. We do not receive any messages left at the district.  Please use both methods of communication calling and emailing to insure we receive your message.  You can even fax us.  All the numbers are listed on our contact button to the left.

            Welcome back to school.  Many schools called for pick up when school closed.  We worked throughout the summer but did not get to many of the schools or they were closed.  Please let us know if you still have books and we will schedule a pickup starting August 10th.  Thanks for  your patience!! Arizona Book Services is the sole provider for TUSD in the service of pick up of all disposal of textbooks, library books and educational materials.  Contact us either by telephone, email or fax listed below.  Please provide the information below when contacting us and we will respond with an approximate pick up date and time. Many schools call and request pick ups at the same time each year. Thanks for your patience as we attempt to help everyone in a timely manner.
     If possible please try to coordinate Library and textbook pickups at the same time. We do not pick up currently adopted texts so if in doubt call the district office for advice.

     If you will not be at the school leave the information where the books are located with someone else on staff that will be there for summer. However if we do not get to you before everyone leaves we will be back when everyone returns later in the summer.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BOOKS?
Arizona Book Services has provided a disposal service for TUSD since 1996 in conjunction with the Educational Enrichment Foundation and WORLD CARE.  We continue to work with WORLD CARE here in Tucson.  The books picked up at the schools are processed first for value for the district, then donated to WORLD CARE.  Books at WORLD CARE are placed in storage for donation to schools throughout the world.  Small quantities are placed in their bookstore, located at the old Keen Elementary available to the public for purchase.  The remainder of books are recycled.  We use a Phoenix company that works with the blind and disabled.  No books or educational materials are placed in landfills.  See links below for more information.
